Pardon this little bit of non baby related news -
With very little fanfare (except some blog posts on Clinton Hill Blog and the Local) the Pratt Post Office is closing temporarily. I hadn’t been able to find out much about what was going on, so I went to the post office this afternoon (located on Myrtle near Hall) to try and find out more. There was a sign posted with the following info:

Did you remember to send your Halloween pics in to the Local? Check out the ones that made it. I see Cameron, and some other familiar faces there! Thanks to Tiffany for the heads up.

How exciting! The New York Times Local blog is calling for pictures from Fort Greene and Clinton Hill residents again. This time, it’s all about Halloween. So be sure to snap some pictures of your little one all dressed up in their Halloween best, enjoying the neighborhood, and send it in! The details can be found here. Good luck – I got Cameron in last time, as well as a few other photos I took!
UPDATE! – I just added some pictures I took today of the store, check the bottom of the post to see what the kids section looks like!
If you haven’t heard there’s exciting news for us Fort Greene / Clinton Hill residents – we’re finally getting a bookstore – and one that promises to have a decent Children’s Book section too! The store is called Greenlight Bookstore, and is located at 686 Fulton Street (on the corner of South Portland) in Fort Greene. Next Saturday (10/24) they are having an story time for kids of all ages at 10:00 AM.

Library Lion
Brooklynite Michelle Knudsen, author of the bestseller Library Lion, will read from her picture book, and will then sign copies of her books, which Greenlight Bookstore will have for sale. Book-related treats and prizes will be handed out to the kids. Of course, this event is FREE! I think it’s a great sign that the opening festivities for Greenlight Bookstore includes a children’s event – hopefully it will be a wonderful resource for mommies, babies, and kids alike!
Update: My hubby, Cameron and I stopped in the bookstore today after lunch at 67 Burger and before a birthday party. It was so nice! Really light, airy, and open. And the Children’s section was GREAT! It had books for all ages of kids. I am really excited to have it in the neighborhood. I took a few pictures of the kids section to share with you all

Well, I was hoping for more, but I was happy to see Tenzin and of course, Cameron on The Local today!

Ok mommies, it’s time to get motivated! The new fall session of Stroller Fitness starts up again tomorrow, Wednesday September 9th at 8am in Fort Greene Park. It’s a 6 week session which will go through October 14th. The cost is $90 – $15 a class. We meet near the playground at Dekalb and Washington Park. I know it’s hard to be up and exercising at 8am, but it’s good for you, and fun!
