We recently had a few people over for Cameron’s first Birthday and our Great Wall was certainly one of the popular conversation topics.

Cameron VS the Great Wall
In our living room against a wall sits my computer desk – something which is extremely enticing to Cameron (cords, LED lights, and fans, oh my!) – and also something that really can’t be moved to any other section of the house. Because of this, we fence it off with what we call the Great Wall. I got it from Amazon – It can be used to create an enclosed space, or to block off an area. And although it is admittedly very ugly (I think one of the reviews on Amazon compared it to a “dog crate,”) it is also very sturdy and gets the job done. It folds up when not in use -we hide ours behind a door. If you need more panels, they can also be purchased. If you’ve got an area in your house which can’t be made baby friendly, no matter how hard you try – consider getting yourself a Great Wall
I LOVE me some Kiehls, so this code deserves its own post:
Kiehls Friends and Family – 20% off in store, and 20% off and free shipping over 30$
Coupon code: FAMILY – in store click and print here
Valid: 11/27-12/1
Kiehls has some of the best Diaper Cream out there. Also, we get Cameron’s baby lotion from there, and mom has been a fan of their products (for her!) for years!
There was a discussion on Parents Around the Hill recently about kids’ music and it made me want to post about Cameron’s favorite CD’s. Most of these were given to me by another mom whose child loved them – and with Cameron they were also an instant hit. I also like them because they are classic kids songs which I already know the words to. Here’s what’s on Cameron’s play list:

Playtime Favorites
Playtime Favorites has classics like BINGO, 1 2 buckle my shoe, itsy bitsy spider, hokey pokey, wheels on the bus, and London Bridge, a lot of which are sung by kids (he seems to like hearing the kids voices.)

Silly Favorites
Silly Favorites is similar to the other one, and has more classics – the ants go marching, apples and bananas, do your ears hang low….

Singable Songs for the Very Young
We also have Singable Songs for the Very Young (by raffi) which has Down by the bay, brush your teeth, baa baa black sheep….

Lullaby Themes for Sleepy Dreams
And before naps and bed time Cameron listens to Lullaby Themes for Sleepy Dreams which has all the classic lullabies.
The amazon links have little samples of all the CDs you can listen to.
Celia recommended to me that I check out The Mini Social – they have sample sale items for babies, making sure that your little one is always super chic. I just picked up a few items for Cameron.

Happy Shopping!
I got email today from Diapers.com with a coupon code for 10% off – expires September 28th. The code is Sept10PCT. You can’t use it on diapers or formula, unfortunately but maybe if there are some toys or other items you’ve been eying this is the time to go for them! Usually Diapers.com discounts only work on your first order, so I would snap this one up!
FYI Diapers.com almost always gives free overnight shipping, plus there’s no tax (a huge advantage over Amazon, for us New Yorkers) so maybe you can find yourself a good deal….
At my baby shower I was given a Born Free gift set that included a sippy cup. When Cameron was around 6 months I tried to introduce him to it, per my Pediatrician’s instructions. He didn’t seem very into it, and I felt like it was really hard for him to suck the water out. He always preferred the bottle with a stage 3 nipple on it. The other day I had a brain storm….. what if I put the handles from the sippy cup on the bottle? It was a match made in heaven – Cameron loves it!

New Yorkers know that the summer months can be brutal… and mommies know that we want our babies to be as cool and comfy as possible! That’s why I love Lucky Wang kimonos. They are made out of super light all cotton fabric, and they are loose fitting. If they can’t go naked, then put them in this! I got mine on sale at Area Kids (for the locals: 45 Fifth Avenue) but you can get them on Amazon too. Plus, they have their own website, and stores in the city. Check it out. Your baby will thank you!

Living in New York almost always means living in a small apartment, which can make being quiet while a baby is sleeping quite challenging. I originally got a set of wireless headphones for our TV in the bedroom so that I could go to sleep and my husband could stay up and watch TV without bothering me. But when Cameron came along we moved the headphones out to the living room so that I could watch TV in the daytime while he was napping and not make a peep. It works out great – a must have for people who live in tiny apartments!

When I was first looking for baby stuff before Cameron was born a friend of mine who already had a baby gave me some advice on mobiles. She said, make sure you find one that looks good from below, not just from your vantage point. I quickly realized that a lot of mobiles look cute to mom, but don’t have a lot going on for baby. I found this mobile on Amazon that both Cameron and I love. The little birdies come off and are nice toys are well.
