A Fun And Simple Fall Craft To Do With Your Toddler

Cameron and I have been taking a lot of walks lately enjoying the fall weather and the beautiful leaves on the trees.  It reminded me of a simple craft that I used to do when I was a kid.

We collected a few of our favorite leaves and brought them home.  Then we arranged them between two pieces of wax paper and I ironed them together.  The leaves look so nice in there!  And Cameron loves to hold it up to the window and check them out.  If you want something that holds them a little better (and might last longer) than wax paper, check a local crafts store (Michael’s for example) for clear contact paper.  You can stick two pieces together and make a long lasting piece of fall art.  Have fun!

If anyone has any Fall or Thanksgiving crafts they’d like to share, please leave a comment or email me!

Weekend Fun – Janney Fall Carnival and Pumpkin Pickin’

Happy Friday!  This weekend we’re planning to have some Fall fun with Cameron.  I got this message from a post on the AU Park Parents yahoo group.  It sounds like a great Saturday afternoon activity.   Here are the details on the Janeny Fall Carnival:

Looking for a great family activity for this weekend? Head on over to Janney Elementary School on Saturday afternoon from 3pm-7pm for the second annual Janney Fall Carnival featuring crafts, games, rides, food, and more. If you need further encouragement, yes, we’ll have pony rides! Also, airbrush tattoos, balloon animals, moon bounces, a dunk tank, Kona Ice Truck, Potomac Pizza, Julia’s Empanadas, and a firewood sale.

All proceeds go to Janney. Janney is located at 4130 Albemarle Street, NW.

On Sunday afternoon we are going to head out into Maryland to go get some pumpkins, apples, and of course take a hayride!  I did a little research and finally settled on Homestead Farms (15604 Sugarland Road, Poolesville, Maryland 20837.)

Homestead was recommended to me by a friend on facebook.  Here’s what she wrote:
“They have an adorable petting zoo with goats and cows, and chicken, and pigs…oh, and really cute baby pigs! Plus, there is a whole family of golden retrievers that live on the farm.”  Sounded pretty good to me.  There’s also the standard hayride to the pumpkin patch and apples galore.

I see a pie in my future….

Stroller Fitness Starts Up Again Tomorrow

Ok mommies, it’s time to get motivated!  The new fall session of Stroller Fitness starts up again tomorrow, Wednesday September 9th at 8am in Fort Greene Park.  It’s a 6 week session which will go through October 14th.  The cost is $90 – $15 a class.  We meet near the playground at Dekalb and Washington Park.  I know it’s hard to be up and exercising at 8am, but it’s good for you, and fun!
